Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 ½ cups flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Stir to form a dough, adding more flour if necessary. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute.
- Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low for about 10-15 minutes. Set aside.
- Assemble the Pizza:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the dough onto a greased baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread a generous amount of pizza sauce over the dough.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
- Add your favorite toppings (pepperoni, veggies, etc.).
- Bake the Pizza:
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil, slice, and enjoy!
